You see them bound over, feel them nuzzle you.\n\nAre you going to fly again?\n\nYou don't know. But you do know one thing, and you might not get another chance to [[tell them|Hunt32ba]].

Small body not made for running -- walks on two legs. What a [[joke|Hunt27aa]].
The simple, honest [[brutality|Hunt22bb]]
[[{PASS}|Hunt9a]]
A sudden flash of feathers and talons, descending straight towards the creature's face. It tries to defend itself but its attention was on you and it's [[too slow|Hunt13ba]].
You spot them crashing out of the tree, powerful talons extended. In a second they're clutching the creature's weapon-stick, pulling it upwards.\n\nThe creature is thrashing around, caught unawares. Now's your [[chance|Hunt13bb]].

You see them motion, a shake of their shaggy head towards a tree the beast must have hit earlier.\n\nThe trunk is badly chewed-up. It's holding together for now, but one good knock would bring the whole thing down.\n\nA risky plan, but it might work.\n\n[[Nod|Hunt10aa]] or [[shake your head|Hunt10ab]]?
You didn't get a good look at it until now. Small teeth and pink skin, doesn't look so threatening up close.\n\n[[But|Hunt17ba]]
You're flapping around wildly, talons locked onto the stick, trying to pull it out of the creature's grasp. It keeps going off and the noise is more horrible than ever but it can't get you and you need to hold on you just have to [[hold on|Hunt17bb]] a little longer
They look like there's something they want to tell you. \n\nYou cock your head curiously, unsure what might be wrong. The creature is definitely [[dead|Hunt34aa]].
This is a two-player game. Please observe the following rules of play:\n\n1. Players may not communicate in any way until the game is complete, except through their in-game actions or as allowed by instructions.\n\n2. While one player is acting, the other player must keep their eyes closed at all times.\n\n3. Text that looks like this: {PASS} is an instruction. The most common is {PASS}. Whenever you reach a passage with the word {PASS}, play passes to the other player. You should notify the other player as unobtrusively as possible -- by touching their shoulder or quietly saying "pass", for instance. Other instructions should be interpreted by the players.\n\nWhoever is sitting on the left is the first player. The second player should close their eyes now.\n\n[[START|Memory1]]

Brace
A howl that pierces the night, immediately followed by a series of deafening blasts -- the creature's weapon-stick striking the brush and stone, spraying dirt and rock everywhere.\n\nNo time. Need to act now, while it's distracted. It's getting closer. Any moment now and it'll be on you.\n\nYou glance back up at the tree. The tiniest shake of a head in response to your suggestion. Don't do it.\n\nBut there's no time. You look back up, wondering if they've got a [[better idea|Hunt12ab]].
One of those clumsy arms connected with you, hard, and you felt something break.\n\nYou're on the ground now and can't seem to get up, all you can do is turn your [[head|Hunt22ba]].

For M\n\n[[Begin|Rules]]
You can hear it crashing through the brush behind you, loud enough for the whole forest to hear. Clumsy but dangerous. Very dangerous.\n\nTree explodes next to you, shower of splinters. [[Too close|Hunt2]].
That weapon-stick will turn your meat and bone to pulp just as easily as it did that tree. Can't keep running forever. Need a plan. \n\nYou dive behind a boulder, glancing to your right and spotting them huddled in a [[tree|Hunt3]].
The tree finally gives with a sharp crack, but the creature [[doesn't notice|Hunt21aa]] the sound over the cacophony of its weapon-stick.
You scramble up into a tree to catch your breath. These creatures never seem to look up. Maybe it'll abandon the chase, having [[lost you|Hunt5]].
It's dark, but your eyes were made for this. Above you, stars. You think of fleeing into the sky, but dismiss the idea. Even if you made it, you couldn't leave them.\n\nYou scan the brush. There, behind large rock. Your eyes [[meet|Hunt6]].
[[{PASS}|Hunt7]]
Your eyes lock and suddenly the forest is silent. It's stopped moving, no doubt listening for any sound, any clue to your location.\n\nMake any noise and it's sure to hear you. But that might work, might give them a chance to take it by surprise. \n\nOr else you could try to work together, form some kind of a plan, maybe lure the creature into a trap. The tree it hit earlier is barely holding together, might be able to use that.\n\n[[Draw the creature's attention|Hunt8b]] or [[try to signal silently|Hunt8a]]?
Just in time to see a grey blur hurl itself into the staggered creature, bowling it over, and then [[more screams|Hunt23ba]].
CRUNCH\n\nYou're feet away when the arm crashes into them, sending their small form tumbling out of the air and into a tree.\n\nThey're not moving and you're angry, so angry and you leap forward and the monster turns at the last second and you're face to ruined face in [[midair|Hunt20ba]]

They can't go you need them too much and you know something they don't, there are more monsters and they'll keep coming until there's nowhere left to go and you're looking and them and they look sad but resigned and you both Know this is it.\n\n[[Be brave|Hunt33e1]] or [[be frantic|Hunt33e2]]
So you tell them.\n\nIt's not over.\n\nThere are [[more|Hunt33ba]].
[[{PASS}|Hunt24aa]]
You spot them leap from their hiding place.\n\nThe beast attacks wildly, churning the area into a storm of dust and atomized plant matter.\n\nThen, a [[burst|Hunt17aa]] of grey out of the cloud of debris.
It's over. But you still can't [[move|Hunt31ba]].
You're on the ground too, lifeblood draining out of this hole torn in your side. \n\nThrough red haze you catch their eyes gone wide with disbelief and [[fear|Hunt31bb]].
It's over. It's [[dead|Hunt29aa]].

The creature is down, it's over. But now the rush of the kill is done and you know now what it is that was [[bothering|Hunt30bb]] you.
You hear rustling, chance a look over the rock. The creature is approaching.\n\nIt doesn't seem to have noticed either of you yet. It's [[getting closer|Hunt12aa]], though.
You crash into the tree at its ruined base, your shaggy grey mass colliding with a sharp [[CRACK|Hunt19aa]]
You've seen them, cautiously edging into the forest on all sides. This was just the least careful of them so far. But you know there will be [[more|Hunt32aa]].

Looks much smaller up close. You can hardly believe this broken, twisted [[thing|Hunt26aa]] brought you so much fear, chased you across half these woods.
Horrible noises -- pain-sounds and the rending of flesh. Limbs thrashing madly, swiping at the air. You rush to [[close the distance|Hunt14ba]].
You launch forward, powerful muscles letting you close the distance with a single leap. \n\nSomething's bothering you but you're too focused to stop and figure out what -- body coursing with adrenaline, knowing what needs to be [[done|Hunt14bb]].
